Abstract

In an increasingly digitalized world, the digital competence of teachers has become a crucial aspect for the quality of education. The research is based on an exploratory study conducted at the San Felipe Neri School in the city of Pasto, Nariño, Colombia, whose objective was to identify the level of performance of the digital competence of teachers. The research was conducted in three phases: 1) development of a survey on ICT competencies for the professional development of teachers of the Colombian Ministry of National Education; 2) application of the survey to 27 full-time teachers; and 3) analysis of the data. The results showed that, in general, teachers are at the exploratory level and are progressing towards the integrative level in the technological, pedagogical, communicative, investigative and managerial dimensions. Therefore, the school should design and implement a training plan in digital literacy for teachers in order to advance to levels of integrative and innovative performance, thus improving the quality of education.
