Anemia por deficiência de ferro em mulheres jovens: atividade em sala de aula e revisão da literatura baseada em dois casos

A anemia ferropriva é um tipo de anemia causada por uma deficiência de ferro. O ferro é importante para o transporte de oxigênio através do sangue e da eritropoiese. A falta deste elemento pode ser devido à má absorção no nível gastrointestinal, uma dieta pobre em ferro ou uma perda prolongada de sangue. O presente artigo origina-se de uma atividade realizada em sala de aula, sobre a simulação e discussão de um cenário clínico hipotético de anemia por deficiência de ferro em uma mulher na pré-menopausa. Assim, a doença e sua manifestação são descritas, como também, uma revisão atualizada da literatura e a descrição de um caso clínico real. O principal objetivo deste artigo é fornecer aos profissionais de saúde um panorama atualizado sobre a patologia e opções para a realização de uma suspeita clínica de pacientes de risco.
